Goodness Facts
Not only are berries delicious and fun to eat, but they are also low in calories!! In addition to many vitamins and minerals, strawberries and raspberries contain a natural substance (ellagic acid) that research has shown may help prevent certain types of cancer.

A one cup serving of raw strawberries or raspberries provides a high source of fibre and a good source of the anti-oxident, vitamin C.

Strawberry Care
Refrigerate and use as soon as possible. If you wash your berries do it gently and drain thoroughly. Don't hull your berries (remove green 'top') until just before serving.

Freezing Strawberries:

With sugar: Mix 1/2 cup sugar with 4 cups hulled, sliced berries. Package and freeze.
Without sugar: Place whole hulled berries on cookie sheets and freeze. Package quickly and return to freezer.

Raspberry Care
Refrigerate immediately in shallow containers, do not wash berries until ready to use. Wash gently and drain thoroughly.

Freezing Raspberries:
Spread unwashed berries on cookie sheets and freeze. Place frozen berries in plastic bags or freezer container.

Belluz Family Strawberry Dip
Our favourite way to eat strawberries!

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Place each ingredient in separate serving bowls.  Wash and dry strawberries (leave stem & cap on!).  Simply grasp a strawberry by its stem, dip it into the sour cream and roll it in the brown sugar.
